Surveys
All surveys are for vessels up to a maximum of 78 Feet (24m).
Full Survey (from £15 per foot)
Thinking of buying a boat? Or would you like a comprehensive report on your current vessel? Our thorough Pre-Purchase/Condition Survey will give you a clear picture of the vessels state, this is particularly important before you commit to a purchase. We inspect the engine, structure, and interior of the vessel, including fittings, appliances, and onboard systems. Including electrics, plumbing, and safety gear.
Hull Survey (from £13 per foot)
A Hull Survey offers a detailed assessment of the boat’s hull condition. It’s often required by insurers for older vessels every 5 years. On a hull survey, specific emphasis is placed on the plating and welds using hammer sounding and an ultrasonic gauge. We also inspect all underwater components such as the stern gear, weed hatch, anodic protection, and steering systems.
In-Water Survey (from £12 per foot)
If the boat can’t be lifted out of the water, this survey provides a practical alternative. We run the engine, assess the gearbox, and examine the electrical, gas, plumbing, and heating systems. Inside, we check the fit-out and condition of the interior. Outside, we inspect the paintwork, windows, covers, and safety equipment. This gives a helpful overview of the vessel’s condition, though we always recommend a full pre-purchase (condition) survey where possible.
Valuation (Full survey cost +£50 )
If you’re buying or selling a boat, or if you need a valuation for your insurance, we can help. A full and reliable valuation can only take place upon completion of a full survey. Where we can know for sure what’s going on below the waterline of the vessel.

Survey Reports
All surveys include a clear, straightforward report outlining any issues and recommended actions, whether urgent, worth monitoring, or purely cosmetic. Written reports are private and sent to you within 14 working days.
Lifting the boat out of the water, boatyard, administrative or similar fees are not included and must be paid separately, directly to the boat yard or providers.

Prices are starting rates and will vary depending on location and type of vessel.

There are always things to be fixed on a Narrowboat and Andrew Blue is the one to call. He is an incredible marine engineer, surveyor and a really nice person. Not only is his work meticulous and super thorough, he has always taken extra time and care to explain and help me understand the process of all the work that has been undertaken on my boat.
